Paris- MIPCOM 2007, the 24th edition of the international audiovisual and digital content market taking place at the Palais des Festivals, Cannes from October 8 – 12, will host ‘India Day’ on October 8 to focus on the Indian media and entertainment industries. In partnership with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry ‘India Day’ will examine the growth and potential of the country’s film, TV and animation sectors, as well as market-specific opportunities for global development. Two panels dedicated to Indian TV and programming will feature keynote speeches by Subhash Chandra, Founder and Chairman of The Zee Network and the Essel Group of Companies and Ronnie Screwvala, Founder and Chairman of UTV Group. The former, entitled ‘The Indian Market Explosion: What does the future hold’ will discuss the growth of the Indian television market and the impact of new technology; while the latter, entitled ‘Indian Media – A global destination’, will examine emerging sectors of the Indian media market especially film, animation and their international development. ‘India Day’ will close with an Indian-flavored MIPCOM 2007 opening night party.
