Malaysia’s Netcarbon Sdn Bhd and Hong Kong’s Bubble Mon Licensing (International) Co. Ltd. are co-producing DragonLord, a 3-D animated feature aimed at the 7-25 year old demographic. Pic is the first fruit of an MoA concluded by the two parties at Hong Kong Filmart 2007 for co-productions and post production services. An action adventure which mixes science with ancient Asian myths, focusing on the race against time to stop the world from annihilation at the hands of an ancient evil, DragonLord is scripted by Aziz Salim and directed by Marhaidan Muhyiddin. Netcarbon Chief Executive Mohd Rashdan Ramlee says there will be versions in English, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin. Auditions are being held for the voice cast, and funding is split amongst investors in Malaysia, Hong Kong and China. Bubble Mon is handling distribution and licensing for Hong Kong and China. Netcarbon is in talks with regional distributors for South East Asia, the Middle East, India and Japan. “We hope to secure distributors for Europe, North and South America by the first quarter of next year,” Rashdan added.
