Sydney- Mobile consumers’ needs and wants are not being met by current mobile search products, according to Yahoo!7 executives Tommaso del Re and Craig Wax. In a joint presentation at the Mobile Content World conference in Sydney, they said consumers want location-relevant results and local information, primarily maps, driving directions and local content such as weather, news, entertainment and sport. Consumers also crave a mobile search process that is different to that via the PC, they added. They identified consumer ‘pain points’ as results often not being relevant, inability to access web sites, and preferring an easier navigation experience. The executives unveiled Yahoo! oneSearch, whereby the user enters a search item, Yahoo! interprets and identifies the context (who, what, when, where), and the user finds what he/she is looking for.
