Hong Kong – From June, 3 Indonesia’s mobile subscribers will be the first in South East Asia to have access to a new music service which enables them to buy and download music to both their handsets and PCs. 3 is looking to bridge the mobile content gap in Indonesia which, at 60 million subscribers, is Asia’s third largest mobile market. It is currently dominated by sales of ringtones and ringback tones, although this should evolve with 3’s new service enabling consumers to access rich media content in the form of full music tracks, for their mobile handset, PC or portable music player. According to Suresh Reddy, Chief Marketing Officer of 3 Indonesia: “Our goal was to provide compelling content to prospective subscribers to encourage uptake of 3 Indonesia’s mobile offering. Music was the clear choice. Soundbuzz’s Dual Delivery technology was critical to the success of this deployment.” Soundbuzz’s General Manager Asia, Yen Ong, said: “This is only the second market in Asia, after Australia, where a Dual Delivery music service has been launched, and Soundbuzz has developed and delivered the products in both countries.”
