Hong Kong- Fox International Channel’s BabyTV is continuing to roll out in Asia, having launched on Phnom Penh Cable TV in Cambodia on May 1; the channel airs on now TV in Hong Kong, Indovision in Indonesia and on News Broadcasting Japan’s FOXlife HD channel. Deals are “under discussion with all leading pay TV operators around the region,” says Zubin Gandevia, Managing Director and EVP of Fox International Channels Asia. The exec reports the Hong Kong channel, which launched on March 7, had approximately 20,000 subscribers as of end April. He notes it’s too soon to predict the rate of the subs take-up and the trend should emerge in three or four months. He’s encouraged that the average viewer spends nearly seven hours a week watching the channel, describing that as a significantly high viewing pattern.
