Seoul- Digital TV broadcasting services will supersede the analogue TV system in Korea by 2012, according to Minister of Information and Communication Roh Jun-hyong and Korean Broadcasting Commission Chairman Cho Chang-hyun. A special bill providing for full digitalization of terrestrial TV is being prepared by the commission’s Digital Broadcasting Promotion Committee. It aims to finalize the bill this year after it wins approval from the National Assembly. The bill will require broadcasters to halt analogue transmission by December 31, 2012 and mandate that all new TV-related home appliances incorporate digital tuners or similar equipment for digital reception.
