Los Angeles, CA – Critical Content has optioned the television rights to produce and adapt a scripted limited series based on Ursula K. Le Guin’s award winning novel The Left Hand of Darkness. Tom Forman, Andrew Marcus and Ray Ricord will executive produce with Le Guin serving as a consulting producer.
A groundbreaking work of science fiction, The Left Hand of Darkness tells the story of a lone human emissary’s mission to Winter, an alien world whose inhabitants have a complex and androgynous sexuality. His goal is to facilitate Winter’s inclusion in a growing intergalactic civilization. But to do so he must bridge the gulf between his own views and those of the completely dissimilar culture and sexuality that he encounters.

It was published in 1969 and in 1970 won both the Hugo and Nebula Awards for Best Novel.
