Warner Bros. Unveils Iconic Franchise Updates and Bold New Animated Worlds at Brand Licensing Europe 2026

October 2, 2026 by TVA Editor

Warner Bros. will bring fresh takes of beloved franchises and bold new animated worlds to partners and licensees at Brand Licensing Europe (BLE) 2026.

With projects currently announced through to 2028, and further reveals still to come, the slate demonstrates Warner Bros.’ continued investment in animation and the enduring power of storytelling. It combines new interpretations of established properties with original stories designed to engage audiences worldwide and build the next generation of global franchises.

At the heart of the slate is a strategy that brings together Warner Bros.’ rich animation heritage with ambitious, bold and unique new stories. From the return of one of the world’s most recognisable mystery-solving teams to original fantasy adventures, unexpected characters and a fresh take on a timeless festive story, the upcoming film and television pipeline presents significant opportunities for licensing and consumer products partners.

A new chapter for Scooby-Doo

One of Warner Bros.’ most enduring and recognisable franchises, Scooby-Doo, is set to begin a major new chapter across live action and animation in 2027.

A new live-action Scooby-Doo series, Scooby-Doo: Origins, will arrive on Netflix in 2027. Produced by Warner Bros. Television, Berlanti Productions, and Midnight Radio, the series is a modern reimagining of how the iconic group of meddling kids and their very special dog come together to solve their first mystery, and marks the first time in the Scooby-Doo franchise that the character of Scooby-Doo will be portrayed by a real Great Dane dog.

Warner Bros. Animation will further expand the franchise with Yokoso Scooby-Doo!, the first original Scooby-Doo anime series, coming exclusively to Tubi in North America and to Cartoon Network internationally. Combining the property’s iconic characters and mystery-solving formula with the dynamic artistry of anime, the series will introduce Scooby-Doo to younger audiences while extending the franchise’s global appeal.

BLE attendees can feel as though they are part of the gang at the groovy Scooby-Doo Café. Located in the heart of the action on the show floor, it’s the perfect spot for a much-needed rest stop to refuel and enjoy a snack or two.

Bold new stories for the big screen

Across 2027 and 2028, Warner Bros. Pictures Animation is bringing several distinctive animated features to the big screen, each offering a unique world with the potential to captivate audiences and create new consumer products opportunities:

  • Bad Fairies is an original musical comedy from Warner Bros. Pictures Animation and Locksmith Animation set in contemporary London that follows a delightfully subversive gang of fairies as they shake up their magical world. Starring Cynthia Erivo, Ncuti Gatwa, Serrana Su-Ling Bliss, James Acaster and Dee Bradley Baker, the film will release on 21st May, 2027.
  • Margie Claus is a high-stakes holiday rescue adventure from Warner Bros. Pictures Animation and On the Day Productions. When Santa Claus goes missing on Christmas Eve, his sweet wife Margie (played by Melissa McCarthy) does what any devoted spouse would do: she grabs a century old sleigh out of mothballs, puts together a wildly unqualified rescue team and ventures to the South Pole where good cheer can get you killed – on an action-packed comedic rescue mission to save her husband and Christmas. The film will release on 12th November 2027.
  • The Lunar Chronicles – Warner Bros. Pictures Animation and Locksmith Animation are bringing Marisa Meyer’s #1 New York Times bestselling book series, The Lunar Chronicles, to the screen for the first time – blending the scale of science fiction with the heart of timeless fairytales in a bold cinematic vision. Set in a richly imagined future where classic fairytale characters are reimagined as unlikely heroes, the story delivers a thrilling, emotional adventure unlike anything audiences have seen before. The film will release on 3rd November, 2028.
  • Oh, the Places You’ll Go! from Warner Bros. Pictures Animation is a sweeping musical adventure that expands on the beloved book by Theodor Geisel (Dr. Seuss) and is inspired by his personal artwork, featuring a voice cast that includes Ariana Grande as Whisper and Josh Gad as Bixby. Directed by Jon M. Chu and Jill Culton, the film arrives in theaters on March 17, 2028.

For licensing partners, Warner Bros. Global Consumer Products (WBGCP) is creating opportunities to connect with audiences at every stage of a franchise’s development. The portfolio ranges from globally established characters with decades of recognition to original properties that give partners the opportunity to help shape the iconic brands of tomorrow.

“We see huge potential in our upcoming animation slate to create new moments of fandom,” said Jo Broadfield, Senior Vice President, Warner Bros. Global Consumer Products EMEA. “We’re bringing together characters people already love with fresh stories that we believe can become the next big brands, giving our partners an exciting mix of proven franchises and fresh new opportunities for fans to discover entirely new stories that have been created just for them.”
