TAICCA and Japan’s K2 Pictures team up to foster international co-productions and compelling stories

November 7, 2025 by TVA Editor

To boost international partnerships and the overseas reach of Taiwanese film and television content, as well as promote Taiwan-Japan co-productions and the globalization of Chinese-language works, the Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA) officially announced its collaboration with K2 Pictures Inc. (Japan) with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Moving forward, the two parties will cooperate in areas such as film and television investment, co-production, and industry promotion, jointly exploring long-term collaboration mechanisms to advance mutual development in content creation, financing, and market expansion.

In recent years, Taiwan’s audiovisual works and market expansion have gained worldwide attention. Recognizing the creativity and international potential of Taiwan’s creative content, K2 Pictures Inc. (Japan) chose TCCF as the platform to unveil this collaboration, reflecting its confidence in Taiwan’s emergence as a hub for Asia’s content industry. The signing of the MOU took place on the second day of the 2025 TCCF, with TAICCA Deputy CEO HU Ting-Li, K2 Pictures Inc. (Japan) Chairman KII Muneyuki, and distinguished local and international guests jointly announcing and witnessing the formation of the partnership.

K2 Pictures Inc. (Japan) was founded in 2023 by veteran Japanese film producer  KII Muneyuki, who spent over 25 years at Toei Company working on acclaimed live-action and animated films such as Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time, Shin Kamen Rider, The First Slam Dunk, Kyrie, and First Love, earning widespread industry recognition.

K2 Pictures Inc. (Japan) focuses primarily on film production, distribution, and investment, with its K2P Film Fund I providing financing for both Japanese live-action and animated film projects. Founder KII Muneyuki utilizes an investment model based on Hollywood and other global practices, which not only attracts international investors to participate in Japanese film productions, but also channels a significant portion of profits back to investors and creators. This approach encourages the creation of more high-quality works while expanding the overall scale and funding sources of film production in Japan. KII’s vision has earned the support of world-renowned filmmakers such as KORE-EDA Hirozaku, MIIKE Takashi, and IWAI Shunji, all of whom are set to join future projects.

Moving forward, TAICCA will leverage its expertise in fostering international collaboration and industry matchmaking to help connect Taiwan’s film and television sector with global resources. Meanwhile, K2 Pictures Inc. (Japan) will contribute its production capabilities and industry network to jointly develop internationally competitive film and television projects.

TAICCA Chairperson Sue WANG noted that Taiwan and Japan share similar creative energy and market characteristics, adding that she is very much looking forward to the collaboration with K2 Pictures Inc. (Japan). Her hope is that the mutual inspiration between production teams from the two countries across financing, technology, and talent will lead to the creation of even more outstanding stories that resonate around the world, and showcase Taiwan’s creativity to a wider audience.

KII Muneyuki, who made a special appearance at the event, expressed his excitement and honor in signing the MOU in Taiwan, sharing his anticipation of working hand in hand with talented Taiwanese professionals to create top-quality productions. He added that moving forward, both parties will continue to explore new models of collaboration, strengthen ties between the Taiwanese and Japanese film and television industries, and develop high-quality content that combines cultural creativity with strong market potential.
