T World Entertainment announces the cast for the first series of Altay, its superhero series for TRT Digital. The series is currently in production.

The cast includes a raft of high-profile Turkish talents including lead roles for Cem Özer, Batuhan Bayar, Aslı Sümen,  Beste Kökdemir , Elif Doğan , Cemil Büyükdöğerli, Çetin Sarıkartal and Toprak Sergen.

Muhammet Uzuner, who starred in Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s Cannes Film Festival Grand Prize-winning movie Once Upon a Time in Anatolia, completes the lineup. Bobby Roth (Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, Lost, Criminal Minds) acts as the Supervisor Director of the project.

As the first superhero universe from Turkey, the series is inspired by the golden age of Eastern science. The universe will expand to have future series inspired by a range of different cultures that will be set in a variety of countries around the world. Across the episodes viewers will see 35 mortal superheroes use the latest technology and ancient wisdom to overcome global challenges such as environmental disasters and wars, as well as battle with a cast of villains in the universe.

The series will consist of 4 seasons and 26 episodes, and all seasons will be available on the TRT Digital platform in 2023.

Raif İnan, producer, T World Entertainment, said: ‘’Ancient Oriental culture and wisdom have not been adequately represented in the cinematic industry. We believe there is more to one of the most prominent civilizations in the world and this was the inspiration for us while designing the T World Universe. The in-depth knowledge of mathematics, algebra, geometry; along with groundbreaking developments in physics and astronomy in the Middle East and its vicinity was the foundation for the prevailing Oriental culture. There has been a gap in the global heritage for such an era of enlightenment and our conceptual perspective aims to deliver this.’’

Bülent Turgut, producer, T World Entertainment, said: “We started this project with a simple inquiry: Who is the superhero of the geography we have been living for centuries? That is how we built a universe that covers a span of 1400 years. Our superheroes, with costumes bearing reference to history, are especially in focus with their humane characteristics. The filming has begun with a tremendous schedule, switching between sets that reflect various dimensions of the T-World Universe, where our main characters – superheroes are fighting against ecological problems, wars and conflicts, pandemics and other disasters that drift our planet to an apocalyptic doom, to build a better future.’’

Producers Raif Inan, Bülent Turgut and Erdal Bozkuş are the creators of the T World Cinematic Universe, which will expand into a range of series, movies, games and comics to rival other hugely popular superhero franchises. The Universe concept and characters were designed by Bülent Turgut and Halid Şimşek, while 3d digital doubles of superhero characters have been supported by Onur Can Çaylı. Bobby Roth (Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, Lost, Criminal Minds) served as Supervisor Director alongside directors Kerem Cakiroglu and Hamit Coskun. Dusan Hyska (Spider-Man, Titanic) directed the live action series.
