Toronto, Canada – Boat Rocker Rights announces sales of multiple kids & family titles, including Ollie! The Boy Who Became What He Ate to Universal Kids (US). Ollie! The Boy Who Became What He Ate (52 x 11’ or 26 x 30’), a show about a very picky eater named Ollie, who, when he finally gives in and tries new food, POP!, he becomes what he eats and gains that food’s superpower, has been sold to Universal Kids (US), NBC Universal Cable Entertainment’s network for kids 2-12. The title, which endorses healthy eating, will begin airing on the newly branded kids channel on Monday, November 20th.
In addition, Ollie! has also been picked up by Discovery MENA, Discovery Asia and Huashi TV (China). The series is a CBC Kids original and a co-production between Boat Rocker owned, Radical Sheep Productions, and Mickey Rogers Media. The series is created by Storycake’s, Sheena Macrae.
Smiley Guy Studio’s, The Curse of Clara (1 x 30’), which is a family viewing holiday special featuring a young girl vying for the lead role in The Nutcracker, has been sold to Globosat (Brazil). Similarly, The Great Northern Candy Drop (1 x 30’), produced by Amberwood Entertainment, is a brand new animated holiday special that tells the story of a northern bush pilot faced with the challenge of his flying career when he’s tasked with saving not only his small town’s Christmas traditions, but also a young girl lost in the unforgiving winter wilderness, has been picked up by SRC (French Canada). SRC has also acquired DOT. (52×11’). Produced by Industrial Brothers in association with the Jim Henson Company, DOT. is a series in which a young, tech-savvy girl with a thirst for knowledge uses electronic devices to help her learn, create and explore.
Yup Yups (50 x 2’ or 25 x 5’), a non-verbal, easy to enjoy and imaginative animated property that features three curious and enchanting characters, has been licensed to CBeebies(Middle East & Poland), and JY Animation (China). The series is produced by Radical Sheep Productions and created by Industrial Brothers.
JY Animation (China) has also picked up Stella & Sam (52 x 11’), in which a 9-year-old girl named Stella guides her 4-year-old brother Sam through the wild spaces beyond their back porch. Additional deals for Stella & Sam include qubo (USA), M&V Co. Ltd (South Korea) and a renewal for SVT (Sweden). The series is produced by Radical Sheep Productions.
In live-action, VRAK (French Canada) has acquired Season 5 of popular dance series The Next Step (180×30’). The tween drama features an elite group of dancers as they attempt to win regional, national and international dance championships all while juggling their personal lives and competitive natures.
The Next Step Live: The Movie (1 x 90’), a feature length documentary that follows the cast of the hit tween dance series, The Next Step, as they tour across the nation performing in front of sold out auditoriums, has been sold to ABC Me (Australia).
Lost & Found Music Studios (27 x 30’), a scripted tween comedy/drama wherein young artists navigate the ups and downs of the music industry as they find their way to love, inspiration and redemption, has been picked up by NRK (Norway) and Disney (Australia & New Zealand).
DIY SCI (26 x 30’), a pop-science series that’s part hands-on experiments, part real-world investigation and as informative as it is entertaining, has been picked up by AB Groupe (France), DaVinci Learning (CEEMEA and Asia), HSCC (Israel) and True Visions (Thailand). National Geographic International (Middle East) has licensed 30 episodes of the educational pre-school program, Super Genius (100 x 30’). A program geared towards the youngest in the household, Super Genius entertains while simultaneously encouraging learning in the areas of science, math, arts, music, literature and sports. The series is produced by Cisneros Media.
