London – Independent distributor all3media International and comedy entertainment specialist 2le media have signed an exclusive first look deal, it was announced as the new partnership’s first project, Asylum, prepares to make its global debut.
UK-based producer 2le Media was founded in 2011 by Michael Livingstone, whose production credits include the BAFTA-nominated Star Stories, and Tom Thostrup, who has produced two series of the BAFTA-nominated Facejacker. Through the new collaboration, all3media International will be granted first look rights to future 2le media productions for an undisclosed term.
The first 2le media project to launch to the international market will be the new 3 x 30’ drama comedy series Asylum, produced for BBC4 as part of BBC’s Taking Liberties season. The show stars Ben Miller (Primeval, Death In Paradise, Johnny English, Dr Who, Armstrong and Miller Show) as Dan Hern, a serious, self-important egotist and former GCHQ Analyst, holed up in a fictional Central-American embassy in London facing extradition for leaking classified CIA documents. Plans by Rafael – the enterprising son of the Ambassador of El Rico (Kayvan Novak) to liven up the Embassy Ball bring forth childish hacker Ludo Backslash (Demri-Burns) – another fugitive seeking exile.
Maartje Horchner, Head of Acquisitions at all3media International, said, “We’re very pleased to confirm this exclusive deal with the team at 2le media. Michael and Tom have a fantastic background in producing innovative and entertaining comedy content and we’re excited to be able to work with them on building the international potential of their upcoming projects. Asylum is a hilarious series to kick off our collaboration, centring on the truly “odd couple” relationship played out by the talented Ben Miller and Dustin Demri-Burns, which we’re confident will prove very popular across many territories and platforms.”
Michael and Tom have said “It’s great to be working with Maartje and the all3media International team who have a great record of taking British shows to the international market and we hope very much to continue producing more content for them to launch”
