Zodiak Kids announced that it has sold Marathon Media’s brand new production Lolirock (52×26’) to a raft of territories across Europe, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East.
The new animated series featuring magic, mystery and music, developed in partnership with France Televisions and Disney Channel (France) is set to premiere on France 3 towards the end of 2014.
Lolirock
Disney has picked up the full Lolirock series for its platforms in France, Benelux, Spain, CEE, the Middle East and Turkey, while De Agostini Editore (Italy) has acquired the 52 episodes for its Italian Pay TV channel DeAKids, and later in 2015, for its DTT free to air channel Super!
Other sales include Globo Brazil for their Gloob channel, Noga Israel, MTV Oy in Finland, and Canal Panda Portugal. Meanwhile in Asia, the first 26 episodes were sold to Ciwen (China and Hong Kong). In a separate deal, Malaysia agent Solimac has licensed the first season to RTM.
In France key licensing deals have already been put in place to support the television broadcast. Hachette are on board for publishing including novels, activity books and comics, Comansi for PVC figurines, Sahinler for textiles and several QSR deals are also in place for the France 3 broadcast.
Aimed at 6-12 year olds, Lolirock follows the journey of young Iris, a spirited teenage girl with a beautiful voice and an unending desire to help others. When Iris joins the girl band Lolirock, her life is changed forever, as a new world of music, mystery and magical powers are revealed. Three new friends are now bound together by their common destiny as magical princesses and their battle for justice. Marathon Media (Totally Spies!) has once again created a cast of characters that are inspirational role models for a generation of children for whom justice has become a core value. With experienced, world renowned talent and proven producers, Lolirock is sure to connect with every girl’s magical inner self!
Produced at Marathon Media’s Paris studios with director Jean Louis Vandestoc, the series boasts world-renowned writing talent from Lilo & Stitch, Tarzan, Kim Possible, Hannah Montana, Barbie in the Dream House, and The Simpsons.
Zodiak Kids holds worldwide distribution rights to the series.
