Paris – MIPCOM has announced that FX’s new TV series The Americans will debut at MIPCOM 2012’s World Premiere TV Screenings on October 8 in Cannes, France. International buyers and media will have their first chance to screen episode one of this eagerly-awaited period drama in the Palais des Festivals’ Grand Auditorium at 6.30pm. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the stars and production team of the show, who will later grace the red carpet at MIPCOM’s Opening Night Party. The Americans is being sold internationally at MIPCOM by Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution.
Co-produced by Fox Television Studios and FX Productions, The Americans is a period drama about the complex marriage of two KGB spies posing as Americans in suburban Washington DC shortly after Ronald Reagan is elected President. Following the success of the pilot episode, the series begins production in October and is scheduled to air in early 2013.
Golden Globe Award-winning actress Keri Russell (Felicity) and Welsh actor Matthew Rhys (Brothers and Sisters) will attend the MIPCOM World Premiere TV Screening of The Americans. David Madden, President, Fox Television Studios, and Eric Schrier, Head of Series Development for FX and Executive Vice President, FX Productions, will also be attending the market.
