Singapore – HBO received four wins at the 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles, the most of any television network this year. The award-winning titles include two wins for Boardwalk Empire – Best Television Series – Drama, and Best Performance by an Actor in a TV Series – Drama (Steve Buscemi); and one each for You Don’t Know Jack – Best Performance by an Actor in a Mini-Series or TV Movie (Al Pacino) and Temple Grandin – Best Performance by an Actress in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television (Claire Danes). In addition, according to Kantar Media, more viewers watched HBO than any other movie channel in Singapore during primetime in 2010, while in the Philippines, the channel was the highest rated English cable channel during primetime throughout the year. In Singapore, with a 49 per cent share among premium English movie channels, HBO dominated during primetime (target demographic: all cable viewers). Last year, 70 per cent of the top 20 programmes that aired on English movie channels in Singapore were on HBO. Some of the highest rated English programmes of the year on HBO included Kung Fu Panda, The Incredible Hulk, and the award-winning HBO Original Miniseries, The Pacific. HBO was the top English cable channel during primetime in Mega Manila (target demographic: all cable viewers) with a complete sweep of all the top 20 programmes appearing on English movie channels in Mega Manila airing on HBO (target demographic: Cable 16+). Highest rated programmes on HBO were Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen, G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra and 2012, all of which were part of HBO’s Action Nation line up of action-packed blockbusters that premiered in October and November last year.
