Sydney – National Geographic Channel launched three new channels in Australia including Nat Geo Wild HD, National Geographic Channel +2 and Nat Geo Adventure +2. Karin Simoncini, managing director of National Geographic Channel Australia, said the new National Geographic channels are meant to give viewers – in each time zone across Australia – more choices to watch their favourite shows when they want to. “Viewers can expect exceptional quality on Nat Geo Wild HD, which has proven to be a favourite SD channel for Australian viewers. With the +2 channels, we are giving Australian audiences much more flexibility to watch the world’s best factual entertainment, all of which is programmed and promoted locally,” Simoncini said. Nat Geo Wild HD (channel 238) takes viewers into the natural world where incredible creatures are showcased in incredible detail. The world’s most awarded filmmakers are featured on the channel, delivering the spectacular cinematography and compelling storytelling. National Geographic Channel +2 (channel 622) invites viewers to continue to ‘live curious’ through smart, innovative programming that questions what we know, how we view the world and what drives us forward. With high-quality, entertaining programming within the genres of wildlife, science, culture, technology, history and investigation, National Geographic Channel +2 pushes the boundaries further than ever of what we understand about our world. Meanwhile, Nat Geo Adventure +2 (channel 629) offers viewers a second chance to enjoy the exciting and unpredictably life-changing experiences that make all of us love to travel. Characters with entertaining observations about the world lead viewers down paths less travelled. Exhilarating stories and thrilling imagery fuel an audience eager to stretch their limits and understand the world beyond their borders.
