Tokyo – MTV Networks International (MTVNI) announced that Shigeo Numakura has been appointed to the position of Senior Vice President and Managing Director for MTV Networks Japan effective 1 September 2010. In this role, Numakura will be responsible for overseeing management of all of MTV Networks International’s businesses in Japan including MTV Japan, Nickelodeon, digital media, programme sales and consumer products. Numakura will be based at the company’s Tokyo headquarters in Shibuya and report to Indra Suharjono, Executive Vice President and Managing Director, MTV Networks North and Southeast Asia. Numakura’s appointment as Sr. Vice President and Managing Director sees him returning to manage the MTV business in Japan, having previously served as Chairman of MTV Japan Inc. from 2001 to 2008. Most recently, he was President and Representative Director of KNTV Co., Ltd., a cable television channel offering Korean entertainment content to Japanese viewers and will remain on the board of KNTV. Prior to initially joining MTV Japan as Sales Director in 2001, Numakura served in a variety of positions within Pioneer Corporation for over 20 years.
