The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has released its Broadcasting Financial Results 2008-09 report. The commercial television sector reported $3,784.4 million in broadcasting services revenue in 2008-09, a nine percent decrease from 2007-08. Total reported broadcasting service profit was $223.2 million for commercial television, a 29.8 percent decrease over the previous financial year. Reported overall expenditure on Australian commercial television programs was $950.6 million, a 2.4 percent increase over the previous financial year. Reported overall expenditure on overseas programs was $430.3 million, a 7.9 percent increase. The Broadcasting Financial Results report is based on information supplied by the licensees of 55 commercial television licences and 273 commercial radio licences, operating as at 30 June 2009.
