Dhaka, Bangladesh/New York – Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind Sesame Street, and Dhaka-based co-producers at Nayantara Communications are filming a sixth original season of the award-winning children’s series Sisimpur. This season is being produced in the wake of the Hugo Television Awards announcements, which included a Certificate of Merit for Sisimpur episode 31: ‘Rhythm is Everywhere’ from season four. Sisimpur’s sixth season focuses on increasing positive attitudes towards nature, increasing children’s knowledge about the natural world and encouraging behavior that demonstrates respect and care for the environment. A 2009 study supported by the BBC World Trust Service entitled ‘Understanding BTV’s Audience’ found that among all programs on BTV, across all demographic groups, Sisimpur ranks third among the most watched programs. Even more, results showed Sisimpur is the most watched education program on BTV, and BTV is the most watched channel in the country. Sisimpur’s sixth season is slated to premiere this summer on Bangladesh Television (BTV).
