Shanghai World Expo 2010 on Channel NewsAsia

January 25, 2010 by TVA Editor

Singapore – MediaCorp, spearheaded by Channel NewsAsia, has been appointed an Official Media Partner for the Shanghai World Expo 2010 (SWE). Channel NewsAsia will broadcast the events and activities of the Expo, which takes place from 1 May to 31 October 2010, to 22 territories in Asia. Speaking at the SWE media conference held at the St Regis Hotel, Singapore on Friday, Clifton Yong, executive vice president, group sales and marketing, MediaCorp said that as the Official Media Partner, MediaCorp is committed to fulfill three obligations: To jointly establish the overseas promotional strategy for the Expo, leveraging on its expertise, network and knowledge of the South East Asian region. MediaCorp will also create awareness and educate the public on the history, importance and development of World Expo. Finally, MediaCorp will provide on-time and objective news reports on the latest happenings concerning the Expo to Singapore as well as Asia’s target audiences. According to Yong, MediaCorp’s promotional activities will cater to audiences in Southeast Asia. “We are working closely with our media friends in the region, and audiences will know what Shanghai World Expo 2010 is all about,” notes Yong. During the six months of Expo 2010, MediaCorp will provide extensive news coverage onsite. The broadcaster will also provide ‘live’ broadcasting for both the opening and closing ceremony.
