Hong Kong – The Cable & Satellite Broadcasting Association of Asia announced details of the CASBAA India Satellite Industry Forum 2010 to be staged at the Shangri-La Hotel in New Delhi on March 22. Themed ‘On the Digital Edge – Where Broadband HITS the Streets’, the one-day Forum will bring together industry leaders and government decision makers to participate in a series of presentations, ‘in conversations’ and panel discussions to share insights on the latest media and communications developments in the digital era. The programme will include examinations of content distribution in a time of regulatory uncertainty and new directions and dangers for satcoms arising from ever-changing bandwidth demand for broadband, broadcast services and new media. Also, under the microscope will be DTH growth through digitalization, HD developments especially for sports content and co-existence between new and traditional communications services. According to CASBAA, subscription TV penetration in India now reaches 85% of urban areas. In the DTH space, over 2.5 million subscribers are being added every quarter, reaching 15 million homes by the end of last year. The Indian TV industry has an outlook about which the rest of the world can only marvel. “The Indian satellite market remains the most vibrant in the Asia Pacific. We look forward to further promoting industry growth through the Forum,” said Simon Twiston Davies, CEO of CASBAA.
