Japan – Jupiter Telecommunications Co., Ltd. announced that its subsidiary, Cablenet Kobe Ashiya Co., Ltd. (J:COM Kobe-Ashiya) and Keihanshin Cable Vision Foundation (KCV) have entered into a business transfer agreement. Under the agreement, J:COM Kobe-Ashiya will acquire Suzuran Cable System (Suzuran), operated by KCV in Kobe City’s Kita Ward, effective 1 February 2010. Suzuran’s service area is located in the northeastern section of Kobe City and covers about 44% of the city’s total area. Suzuran offers three services – cable television, high-speed internet access and telephony – and has 77,800 homes passed (as of the end of August 2009). The business transfer will expand the coverage area of J:COM to almost the entire city and raise J:COM’s homes passed in Kobe City to a total of approximately 767,700 households.
