Singapore – Universal Networks International is adding Taiwan to its list of territories in the Asia Pacific region with further channel launches. SCI FI, Universal Channel and Hallmark Channel are now available on the territory’s leading pay-TV operators, TFN Media (Taiwan Fixed Network), CNS (China Network Systems) and TBC (Taiwan Broadband Communications). The channels debuted in Taiwan with TFN Media in June of this year. This was then followed by the launch on CNS in August. The most recent launch was on TBC on October 21. The channels are scheduled to launch on system operator, Vesta on November 1. This announcement comes just a few weeks after the launch of SCI FI HD in Japan. 13th Street is due to make its Asia Pacific debut next month with its launch in Australia on both Foxtel and Austar. Taiwan, being one of the most penetrated pay TV markets in the world, is a significant part of Universal Networks International’s plan to grow to around 100 channels in the next two years. Universal Networks International now reaches 150 million viewers globally. Raymund Miranda, managing director of Universal Networks International (Asia Pacific) said, “The changing pay TV landscape in Taiwan provides significant opportunities for our channels and we are looking forward to even more partnerships in Taiwan in the coming months.”
