Beijing – Shanghai Media Group (SMG) signed a framework agreement with Xinhua News Agency on cooperation in the new media field such as mobile TV and IPTV. By the end of 2009, Xinhua will broadcast TV programs in Chinese for 480 minutes and TV programs in English for 180 minutes every day, and both lengths will double by the end of 2010, namely 960 minutes for Chinese programs and 360 minutes for English programs. Li Ruigang, president of SMG, said that the company attaches great importance to the strategic cooperation, and expects more fruitful collaboration with Xinhua in wider areas.
