Tokyo – In a move to further expand its business in Japan, Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.’s Japanese subsidiary, Japan Entertainment Network K.K. (JEN) announced its decision to acquire Japan Image Communications Co., Ltd. (JIC), a subsidiary of Secom Co., Ltd. which, among other media & entertainment related businesses, operates Tabi Channel and MONDO21 through cable, satellite and IPTV platforms in Japan. In addition to maximizing revenues from the two CS channels, Turner’s ownership opens up new opportunities for JEN to reach fresh demographics and develop new business interests. This deal will enable Turner to become more locally relevant in the highly -competitive Japanese entertainment TV market, by increasing its channel offerings and showing more commitment to its viewers.
