Singapore – Law firm Drew & Napier LLC has clarified that it was part of a consortium of consultants appointed by the MDA to conduct a study into the competitive landscape of the convergent media and telecommunications market in Singapore. “As part of the study, we had interviewed a broad spectrum of stakeholders in the industry to obtain their feedback on various issues related to the study,” said a spokesperson. Spokesperson said that the consortium is conducting an objective study into Singapore’s competitive landscape, stressing that Drew and Napier LLC is not involved in any efforts to encourage compromise between rival operators StarHub and SingTel. The study comes amid industry concerns that a bidding war for lucrative EPL soccer rights will ultimately lead to an increase in subscription fees paid by the consumer. The spokesperson said that in respect of the study undertaken for the MDA, “We are unable to further comment due to client confidentiality.”
