Korea – Project Runway Korea named 26 year old Lee Woo Kyung, a freelance designer, as the winner of its first series at the South Korean finale. Lee walked away with a 50 million won (US$35, 000) cash prize, a car and a fashion spread in Elle Magazine after stunning the judges and audiences at the finale. “South Korea is an innovator of fashion, music, film and pop culture across Asia – and to have a hit show in the genre of fashion is a proud achievement for FremantleMedia. Our production team worked closely with On Style on the ground to deliver them the learning’s we have gathered from making this show around the world. We look forward to launching Project Runway Korea II soon,” said Patrick Schult, CEO FremantleMedia Asia. Project Runway Korea is produced by the cable channel On Style. The final episode ranked first among the channel’s target audience (20 – 34 year old women) and at its highest point garnered a 29.15 percent share of the audience (Nielsen).
