Singapore – Discovery Networks Asia Pacific is not believed to be seeking an immediate replacement for senior vice president revenue Mark Whitehead following his resignation on 18 February 2009. “Mark is serving out his notice at this moment; at this time, the regional advertising sales team will report into me. We have a strong regional advertising sales team and I’m confident in their ability to continue to drive our business,” said DNAP’s executive vice president and managing director Tom Keaveny. Since end-2008, Television Asia Plus’ sources have consistently linked Whitehead’s name to the top job at BBC Worldwide Channels Asia, vacated by senior vice president and general manager Christine Leo-McKerrow end-January 2009. BBC sources say external communications have been subject to a ‘three-line whip’ and everyone is being particularly tight-lipped on this appointment – following the unsanctioned announcement from Singapore of Leo-McKerrow’s resignation during MIPCOM, on 15 October 2008 Co-general managers for the interim are Anne Howarth, senior vice president of strategy and business development and Monty Ghai, director of distribution and development. Howarth has responsibility for all matters pertaining to the operations and strategy of the channels while Ghai is responsible for revenue across the region.
