Singapore – NBC Universal Global Networks has launched SCI FI into the Philippines, said Raymund Miranda, MD, NBC Universal Global Networks Asia Pacific. The move is part of NBCU Global Network’s continued channels expansion in the Asia Pacific region and central to the company’s growth objective, led by Roma Khanna, president, global networks & digital initiatives. Khanna commented, “This is an important step in our growth plan for the Asia Pacific, a priority region where we are committed to building a significant presence with our world-class brands.” NBCU Global Networks has appointed Solar Entertainment Corporation to be its channel distributor as well as its advertising sales representative for SCI FI in the Philippines. SCI FI joins both Hallmark Channel and KidsCo – (a joint venture channel owned by leading media companies NBC Universal, Corus Entertainment Inc (Nelvana) and The Cookie Jar Group) in the Philippine market. With the announcement, SCI FI is now in eight countries in the Asia Pacific region, Universal Channel in six markets and Hallmark Channel is in 20 countries throughout the Asia Pacific region.
