Singapore – ESPN STAR Sports is inviting sports fans across Asia to vote for the greatest ever driver who made the biggest impact on the world of Formula One. In conjunction with ESPN’s SportsCenter and STAR Sports’ Engine Block, ESPN STAR Sports’ website (www.espnstar.com) is inviting public opinion to determine the individual who stands head and shoulders above all drivers in Formula One history. Sixteen iconic drivers have been shortlisted – pre-determined by fans across the region through forum discussions – comprising drivers past and present. Among the list includes Jackie Stewart, Michael Schumacher, Ayrton Senna, Juan Manuel Fangio, Alain Prost, Niki Lauda, Emerson Fittipaldi, Lewis Hamilton, Malaysia’s Alex Yoong, the first F1 driver to hail from South-east Asia, and Narain Kathikeyan, the only Indian driver to have participated at the Formula 1 World Championships. The drivers will be drawn against each other in pairs and members of the public can vote on www.espnstar.com/games/the-greatest for their driver. The Greatest F1 Driver will be announced live on STAR Sports’ Chequered Flag on 5 April 2009.
