Chandigarh – The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has reportedly allowed cable TV service providers a 7 per cent increase in rates with effect from January 2009. The TRAI notification also carries revised charges for set top boxes, rentals and security deposits which will be cheaper this year. There are two schemes, one in which security deposit of Rs 250 has been reduced to 200, and rentals to Rs 34 from Rs 45, and in the other, the deposit of Rs 999 has come down to Rs 750, with monthly rental of Rs 22 instead of Rs 30.
