Tokyo – MTV Networks International (MTVNI) announced that Sammy Yoo has been appointed executive vice president and managing director of MTV Networks Japan and Korea. Yoo succeeds Peter Bullard, and reports into Bob Bakish, president of MTV Networks International. As executive vice president and managing director, Yoo will have day-to-day oversight of MTVNI’s operations in Japan and Korea including overall strategic and creative direction across all lines of businesses and brands. He will be responsible for building on MTVNI’s established position in each market, identifying new business opportunities and expanding on existing ones. Yoo joined the company in January 2008 as senior vice president and managing director of MTV Japan. In this position he was responsible for developing the MTV brand and overseeing creative and content, programming, talent and artist relations, ad sales, marketing and communications. Prior to joining MTV Japan, Yoo was GM, Oakley Japan K.K. and Callaway Golf Japan K.K. He also worked for Mitsubishi International Corporation based in the United States, a role that gave him diverse and varied experience in sales and marketing.
