Philippine broadcaster GMA says its net income from January to September this year grew 10 per cent to P1.96 billion (US$40 million). According to key officials from GMA, the expanded figure was strengthened by steady growth in ad revenue. Felipe S Yalong, senior vice president, said there had been a slowdown in big advertisers but that ads such as those for health products had posted a 40 per cent increase. With the ad revenue growth, the company’s gross revenue reached a new high of P9.4 billion (US$193 million), 6 per cent higher than for the same period last year. Company officials are hopeful that the advertising revenue will continue on aggressive competition, particularly in the personal health care segment and added there has been no indication of a slowdown in advertising expenditure.
