Singapore – Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific (DNAP), a division of the number one non-fiction media company Discovery Communications, today announced the appointment of Alice Foo as vice president, human resources. Based in DNAP’s regional headquarters in Singapore, Foo is tasked with identifying, developing, and implementing corporate human resource strategies, initiatives and programmes for staff in Singapore and the company’s offices in Australia, China, India, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan. She is also responsible for managing the human resource operating budget for the region, and advising on organizational structure and design that best aligns with the strategic direction of the business. Additionally, Foo will serve as a key representative on the International Human Resource senior management team, working closely with the global team and country managers in the region to maintain awareness of current employment legislation relevant to each market, while ensuring compliance to human resource polices and procedures. Foo comes to Discovery with more than 20 years of experience in human resources. Prior to joining Discovery, she held the position of senior vice president, human resources, at ESPN Star Sports, where she provided strategic direction on all human resources related issues including organizational re-structuring, talent identification, acquisition and retention. Before that, she was with the Singapore Sports Council as director of human resources and corporate services.
