Kuala Lumpur – The Asian Advertising Congress 2009 (AdAsia09) will take place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 22 to 25 October 2009, announced the Malaysian Advertisers Association (MAA). Peter Anthony Das of Perodua, president of the Malaysian Advertisers Association and current chairman of the Asian Federation of Advertising Associations (AFAA), is chairman of the organizing committee for AdAsia09. Das unveiled the logo and theme following the endorsement by the members of AFFA at a meeting in Kuala Lumpur on 24 October 2008. The meeting also approved of Malaysia’s facilities in hosting the congress. AdAsia, the biennial gathering of the Asian advertising community, was initiated by former president of Dentsu, Hideo Yoshida and launched in 1958 in Tokyo. Malaysia first hosted AdAsia in 1990 in Kuala Lumpur.
