Singapore – BBC World News announced that Alice Cairns has joined the channel as the new Asia editor at the end of September. Reporting to Richard Porter, head of news, Cairns is responsible for overseeing the output produced for audiences across Asia, to make sure all coverage is broadcast to the highest BBC standards. Cairns has a wealth of experience at the BBC, including a role as a producer at BBC World News. Prior to this, Cairns worked as an editor at BBC World Service and as a duty editor of Today, the flagship news programme on BBC Radio 4. A China specialist, she has led numerous BBC production teams into China and also lived in Hong Kong for six years where she worked as a reporter and columnist at the South China Morning Post.
