Petaling Jaya – primeworks studios made its official debut on August 8, with plans to take Malaysia’s local creativity to the international market. primeworks studios is a fully owned but independent subsidiary of Media Prima Berhad (MPB) and its role includes consolidating MPB’s in-house production operations and creating content for TV3, ntv7, 8TV, TV9 and Grand Brilliance Sdn Bhd. “We exist to make great content and viewing moments, although we also want primeworks studios to act as a catalyst for the Malaysian TV and movie production industry by bringing them to the next level through the creation of new business opportunities,” said Farisha Pawanteh, chief operating officer of primeworks. primeworks studios intends to develop the quality of local content to a level where it can be exported to the international market while creating new opportunities for local producers. It will also be making investments to ensure that the quality of content it produces is comparable to that of global standards. primeworks studios will also be assisting in marketing the works of Malaysian producers to the global market. “We are here to fuel creativity within the industry. We will also be working with local universities, talent pools and engaging the production industry both locally and regionally on a constant basis to benchmark primeworks studios competencies and growth. “We have also held initial discussions with some of the major international studios on potential strategic partnerships to work with them to produce content,” added Farisha.
