London – Worldwide enterprise spending on mobile devices will grow from US$6billion in 2008 to US$17billion by 2012, highlighting the need for IT managers to implement mobile device policies and technologies as enterprises expand mobile workforces, and employees’ increasing preference to integrate enterprise applications into their consumer mobile devices including Apple’s iPhone in a trend referred to as ‘consumerization’. That’s according to the Enterprise Mobility: Trend Analysis to 2012 report released by independent market analyst Datamonitor. Based on a survey conducted for the study, majority of the 467 respondents rated security as the greatest barrier to adoption of mobility solutions. The report has found few IT departments to be supporting a variety of mobile devices, although the iPhone offers a new standard that looks set to drive the ‘consumerization’ trend on.
