CNN’s global week of special programming Going Green: Search for Solutions will air in the run-up to the G8 in Hokkaido, Japan where global warming and climate change are high on the agenda. The week of June 30 – July 6 will represent the network’s most comprehensive assessment to date of environmental threats and solutions in five distinct areas: food and water production, living, business, transport and energy. CNN correspondents will report live from five continents, harnessing resources from the network’s 30 international bureaus. A central component of Going Green: Search for Solutions engages viewers and users to share their own ideas and personal accounts of how they make the world a ‘greener’ place to live. Some of the initiatives highlighted in the programme include the world’s first ‘ecopolis’ in the UAE, ‘vertical farms’ in rundown NYC buildings, Italian ‘smog-eating cement’ and British ‘carbon neutral beer’.
