Singapore – BBC Global Channels Asia-Pacific embarked on a 360-degree media campaign to celebrate the April 6, 2008 premiere of the new season of Top Gear (series 10) exclusively on BBC Knowledge on SingTel’s mio TV IPTV service. Top Gear is estimated to be watched by over 150 million households in more than 100 countries, with series 10 and future series of the motoring magazine show to be available first and exclusively on BBC Knowledge in Singapore. The media campaign includes BBC Global Channels’ first mobile campaign for international viewers with live streaming clips made available on the mobile platform from April 3 to June 1, 2008. These include six 2-minute excerpts from the series that were made available ahead of telecast dates via SingTel’s Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) to 600,000 SingTel subscribers. BBC Global Channels Asia Pacific also worked with MediaCorp Radio’s English radio station Class 95FM on a creative radio campaign where deejays Mark Van Cuylenberg and Glenn Ong talked about Top Gear and other BBC Knowledge programmes twice every morning for a week. 10 one-year subscriptions to Top Gear magazine were offered as prizes for listeners.
