The 13 x 30’ series debuted internationally in February 2008 and was licensed to Thailand’s free-to-air Channel 9, Hong Kong’s TVB, UKTV in UK and Eire, as well as Greek network Eidiseis. Outback Wildlife Rescue was commissioned by Australia’s Seven Network and has also been sold to New Zealand’s TVNZ. BBC Worldwide took a 25% stake in Freehand in 2007, as a step in its strategy to become an international content producer in Australia. And BBC Worldwide France has concluded a co-production deal with French pubcaster France 5 for HD documentary Human Journey. The new five-part series follows their co-production Surviving Disaster which aired in 2006, and was sold to 25 broadcasters worldwide.
