New York – GlobeCast and World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. (WWE) have reached an agreement for global satellite and fiber distribution of pay-per-view (PPV) live events from across North America in HD and SD. The deal initially includes 14 PPV events in 2008 including The Royal Rumble, WrestleMania XXIV, Summerslam and Armageddon. Globecast is overseeing international distribution of the WWE events, beginning with standard conversion to PAL format. For Asia and Australia, GlobeCast is providing WWE with space segment capacity and fiber connectivity. For Europe, feeds are routed to GlobeCast’s London teleport for uplink and pan-European satellite capacity. In North America, GlobeCast is providing WWE with a dual HD and SD distribution solution, with satellite and fiber connectivity for pre-event testing and the live events; as well as post-event replays for affiliates including backhaul from its Stamford, Connecticut headquarters to event locations. GlobeCast’s turnkey service also includes full encryption of all transmissions and deployment of new HD receivers at all of WWE’s North American HD-ready affiliates to supplement previously-supplied SD decoders. A dedicated project management team will support WWE from pre-event coordination to live support during the events.
