Hong Kong – Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) is representing Strix Television’s catalogue in Asia, excluding Japan. In the exclusive deal, 70 Strix formats are being represented by SPTI for licensing to Asian broadcasters or for direct production by SPTI. This follows SPTI’s deal to represent the light entertainment producer’s catalogue in Latin America signed October 2007. Formats in the Asia deal include The Farm, The Bar, Phone Booth, A Chef in the Family, Floor Filler, Happy Hour, LOL, And Action and Kids in Charge. Already, The Farm has been licensed to 53 countries since its debut in 2001 and was nominated at the European competition for the Canal Grande Award and the 42nd Golden Rose in Montreux. Todd Miller, executive vice president and managing director, Asia, SPTI, said, “We are excited to be bringing new and unique ideas to the unscripted marketplace in Asia and are confident that the Strix formats can be successfully adapted here” SPTI’s unscripted formats that have been adapted and distributed in Asia include Russian Roulette in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, India and Indonesia; Blackjack Bowling in Taiwan and Singapore; The Gong Show and That’s My Stuff in Indonesia; Karaoke Showdown in Indonesia and Vietnam; as well as Pyramid in Vietnam.
