London – Galleon Holdings plc, the AIM-listed intellectual property owner and developer, has taken a controlling stake in Mengbo, a wireless interactive platform service provider in China. The acquisition is complementary to Galleon’s intent to provide multi-platform entertainment based on interactive TV and mobile in China. Phoenix, Galleon’s provider of interactive TV services for broadcasters in China and South East Asia, acquired in October 2007, will distribute wireless content across all China, while Mengbo provides a direct wireless content distribution channel throughout China and expands Galleon’s entertainment services platform. Stephen Green, CEO of Galleon Holdings plc said, “Phoenix, now able to deliver the mobile billing infrastructure as well as the interactive services that broadcasters need, is becoming a real one-stop shop for broadcasters. We look forward to forging productive partnerships with Chinese broadcasters.” Established on June 30, 2000, Mengbo provides wireless short-messaging service (SMS) and multimedia messaging (MMS) in China, and holds nationwide SMS billing codes for telcos China Mobile and China Unicom. Mengbo revenues are driven by SMS, MMS, IVR, WAP, ring-tones, ring-back-tones, and Java games. Clients include China Tobacco, Hunan Industrial Corporation, Hunan Media Group, and Da Guo Music Recording Studio.
