Globo TV International has capped a fruitful year of business in 2007 in Asia, with the opening of markets in China, India and Macau being the highlights. The sale of telenovela Shades of Sin to Tianjin TV Station reopened the Chinese market after almost 30 years, while João Emanuel Carneiro, a production already sold to 40 countries, will be seen for the first time in Mandarin. Another deal won was for India’s Sahara One channel to exhibit more than 1,000 hours of TV Globo dramas and the first telenovelas selected were Pages of Life and America. Globo TV also clinched a deal with Macau’s TDM group for the exhibition of drama in the next five years. The productions are being shown in Portuguese with English subtitles. In addition, Globo TV’s children’s live action show Pirlimpimpim was sold to to WPP in Vietnam.
