Hong Kong – The Li Ka Shing Foundation has closed a $60 million deal for a 0.4% share of on-line social networking site Facebook. According to media reports, the deal values Facebook on the same $15 billion terms as the 1.6% stake taken by Microsoft. Analysts anticipate future synergies between Facebook and TOM, in which Li is a majority share-holder; shares in the latter jumped by 48% in Hong Kong. The 1980-founded Li Ka Shing Foundation has focused on funding a variety of health, education, and environmental projects in recent years. In May 2007, the Foundation invested a reported $45 million in Internet TV site Joost, founded by the co-founders of Skype.
