Singapore – Discovery Networks Asia and Reader’s Digest Asia are teaming up for Discovery Channel Magazine, a bi-monthly magazine which will debut across the region from Feb. 22, 2008. The Singapore-based magazine will have an initial circulation of 100,000 copies (subscriptions and newsstands sales), primarily in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines. Secondary markets include China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. The mag will roll out in other Asia Pacific markets later in 2008. Tom Keaveny, Executive Vice President and Managing Director, Discovery Networks Asia, said, “We are now able to offer our advertisers a fully-integrated campaign, incorporating on-air, online, on-ground and print, with a regional platform to reach a broad base of affluent readers across Asia Pacific.” Discovery Channel Magazine will focus on science, technology, the natural world, animals and history. Jim Plouffe, Editor-in-chief of the English edition of Reader’s Digest in Asia, will oversee the publication working with a separate team of writers and designers.
