Hong Kong – Comcast International Media Group (CIMG), formerly E! Networks, made its debut in the Asia Pacific with a full rebrand at CASBAA Convention 2007. In line with CIMG’s new global strategy, The Style Network is to debut worldwide with an Asia Pacific launch scheduled for 2008, and The Golf Channel, currently available in China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and Singapore, will launch globally as a 24-hour service next year. Additionally, CIMG recently unveiled a suite of Video-On-Demand fully branded channels that includes E! Entertainment Television, The Style Network, The Golf Channel, G4 and Exercise TV. President, Comcast International Media Group, Kevin MacLellan told Television Asia that research has been conducted into the three key Asian markets, Japan, Korea and India, where CIMG’s channels do not yet have carriage. “In these markets that have such vibrant entertainment industries of their own, we are definitely looking for joint venture opportunities to produce localized content,” he said.
