NEC Corporation is sponsoring ‘Be the Change’, a new CNN online and on air initiative to showcase volunteers working to better others’ lives as 6 men and women working to make a difference blog and post videos of their lives and jobs. With NEC’s sponsorship running for a year starting from September 2007, the content generated by the volunteers will be broadcast worldwide and feature online at www.cnn.com/bethechange, harnessing CNN International’s global reach, multiplatform services and technology. ‘Be the Change’ highlights the volunteers’ work which includes building a sports complex for a disadvantaged South African community and aiding abused Cambodian youth. A video diary from one contributor will be a weekly segment on CNN International television, while blogs from the rest will be hosted on the specially-produced website which also provides biographical sketches and links to their organizations and photo galleries. The website is interactive and allows visitors to comment and post questions to and for the contributors.
