Singapore – Stars of NBC-Universal’s cult hit ‘Heroes’ have been overwhelmed by their reception in the region. In Singapore thanks to STAR World, as part of the Heroes World Tour 2007, cast members Masi Oka, Greg Grunberg, Ali Larter and Sendil Ramamurthy spent generous amounts of time with contest winners, then over 100 members of the press, and a 5,000-strong crowd at an afternoon mall appearance. Asked by Television Asia when it really hit home that the show was a success, not just domestically, but internationally, Oka and Grunberg both said NATPE and LA Screenings has been pivotal moments. Ramamurthy said he realized at the French Open Tennis tournament, “I was approached by so many fans of the show – many of them from markets that hadn’t even aired Heroes yet,” he said. Heroes premiered on STAR World 31 January 2007. The channel also has first-run rights for Heroes season two in Southeast Asia, new episodes will air January 2008.
